Twin House

The concept of a 'garden spine' underpins the plan configuration of this house. This linear space is partially covered by an undulating zinc roof which compresses and expands the space along the length of the 16 meter wide north facing block. The main house is separated from the street by a studio and a double garage, which provide privacy to the main central outdoor space of the house from the street. The house is divided in two by the heavily planted landscape spine. Sliding doors open the ground floor living spaces onto this space. The two timber clad boxes at first floor level accommodate four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Climbing plants, bamboos and timber screens filter northern light into the indoor and outdoor living areas.
